Emergent Curriculum

Read on to see how we celebrate

authentic accomplishments

by nurturing the whole child and their unique process of learning.

Step 1
Exploration

Children are

naturally inclined to learn about the world around them.

A unit of study emerges

from our group's play

and unique interests.

Step 2
Observation

The teacher's  role is to observe when children are fascinated or finding joy in new knowledge.

New concepts may be introduced to inspire further thought, by invitations to play.

Step 3

Planning

Next, questions are formed.

Guided and open-ended activities are planned to support a unit of study and answer the questions

The activities follow the state standard, learning domains.

Step 4

Collaboration

As we progress, collaborative ideas are often added!

The learning environment transforms to support the levels and interests of the children.

The activities are posted in the online classroom portfolio.

The ability to read is important to every child's success in school and learning to read is different for every child.

The Jolly Phonics program is used to support a
multi-sensory structure in how the children learn:

  • Letter sounds

  • Letter formation

  • Blending for reading

  • How to identify sounds in words for writing
